Now that it is finally warming up, I've been spending time out in the yard and I'm beginning to realize it's all pretty overgrown.  However, since this is my first spring here I'm unfamiliar with the plantings, and I'm never sure what is a weed and what is something that the previous owners planted (I almost mowed some peonies, for example).  I'd ( Read more... )

This plant was found in a piece of abandoned/wildish land. I thought that it looked a little like wild hops. But it might be a sedge of some sort.

I have a large pot of Clove Pinks that has been growing for several years. While removing dead foliage, I uncovered some curious little pods emerging from the pot, which seem to open like stars, and are filled with tiny seeds. They sure aren't the Pinks- anyone know what they are?

Does anyone know what this flower is? It's growing on a crawling plant with thin leaves along a roadside. It's definitely a volunteer.
